City fire department acquires training trailer

A new training trailer that is expected to improve emergency response preparedness for the city and nearby municipalities went into service last week, according to an announcement from Meadville Central Fire Department.

The multipurpose trailer is for exercises such as fire suppression evolutions, search and rescue, ventilation techniques, and multi-agency drills, all in a dedicated, realistic environment.

“This trailer gives us the ability to train closer to real-life conditions, ensuring our firefighters, EMS crews, and even law enforcement officers are better prepared for the emergencies we may face,” said Chief Evan Kardosh. “The more we can replicate the challenges of actual incidents, the more confident and capable our responders will be when called upon to protect the citizens of our community.”

The trailer, previously owned and operated by the Saegertown Volunteer Fire Department, is now located at Vantage Healthcare Network.

Adam Nelson, CEO of Vantage, said community collaboration is important to the company.

“We are grateful to the City of Meadville for entrusting us with this opportunity, and we are proud to host the fire training trailer on our property,” he said. “Supporting the training and preparedness of our local first responders is vital to the safety and well-being of everyone in our community.”

The training trailer also creates opportunities for mutual-aid companies to train side by side with Meadville personnel, according to Kardosh.

“We respond together on the emergency scene, and now we can train together as well,” he said. “That cooperation and familiarity strengthen all fire departments throughout the greater Meadville community.”
