Clinical Monitoring
The infusion clinical team must function as the “eyes and
ears of the physician.”
As the patient’s treatment progresses, the clinical pharmacist
evaluates laboratory tests and communicates with the nurse, the
physician and the patient in order to monitor and adjust the therapy
regimen. Because home infusion medications are delivered directly
into the bloodstream careful clinical monitoring is ongoing from
the day the patient is admitted for therapy until the day of discharge.
